The day brought a lot of heat. Fortunately, we did not record any signals from the competitors related to this. The only DNF, Grzegorz Bordoszewski's, was related to technical problems with the gears. At this stage, there are a lot of stiff climbs and too hard a turn causes problems.
Looking at the race "from the back", we have competitors fighting with the time limit. Tilo Arnhold (DEU) left Złoty Stok exactly 24 hours before the limit in Grudza83_Bike_Point (PK6). On this section, there is 280 km to cover and 4600 m of elevation gain.
Krzysztof Florczak has a bit more to spare, now he has 140 km to Grudza and 10 hours to cover them.
The Gold Mine in Złoty Stok https://kopalniazlota.pl/ is hosting the Race Around Poland cyclists for the third time. It is worth coming back here not only as part of the cycling race. Today, after dedicated work at the PK, the Mine was visited by Aneta Lamik with her daughter and son - the world champion in ultracycling (2024) and the first woman at the Race Across America (2025)
Let's move on to Grudza 83 Bike Point, where PK6 and the finish line of the 1800 distance are located. After Andrii Goncharov (UKR), Adam Szczygieł was the second to reach the finish line.
Therefore, we have 30 competitors on the route. The "peloton" stretches over 1100 km. The leader Stefano Semenzato (ITA) is now at 2790 km and is approaching Frombork. Tilo Arnhold (DEU), who is closing the pack, is just passing Duszniki Zdrój at 1660 km.
The World Championship battle (3600km solo unsupported) looks like this:
M50- Cezary Wójcik has just passed PK9 in Hymer Center Pomorze and is at 2670km, Kemal Erdem dropped two positions and Jens Volkersdorfer (DEU) jumped to the vice-leader position (190km loss)
At PK9 Czarek was 5h faster than Kuba's last year's result. The chance for a course record in the unsupported category has increased again.
M50+ Piotr Mos is at 2320km and has a 110km advantage over Ingolf Micklisch (USA). So the advantage is stable. It has increased slightly, but this is normal considering that the competitors entered flat terrain.
F50- Lisa Brömmel is at 2300km and Maria Łuszczek is exactly 300km behind her
