Reading time: about 3 minutes
Jens Volkersdorfer (DEU) took second place in the ultra-cycling world championship competition over the 3600km Race Aroudn Poland. His time was 184:42:53
Kemal Erdem (POL) withdrew from the race after falling and breaking his arm. Kemal is safe. A RAP volunteer from TS10 Hotelik Gołdap was at the scene and took care of Kemal's bike. The athlete was treated in the hospital in Giżycko and is on his way home.
For safety reasons, John Gwite (IND) was sent for a mandatory rest in the town of Lublewko, before TS9 Hymer Center Pomorze Kębłowo. John was pulled off the track by a RAP volunteer from PK9 and rested there. He is now back on the track. His time result will be increased by 2h15m, which is the average time it took competitors from his group to cover the section from Lublewko to Kębłowo.
At the back of the "peloton" Tilo Arnhold (DEU) is fighting to stay within the limit. He reached TS 7 Hotel Bastion Kostrzyn n. Odrą with a slight time to spare. There he rested until 5 p.m. and then went on a 310 km section to TS8 Mielenko Resort. Currently, he has 4.5 hours left to cover 90 km. Theoretically, it is doable, but considering that the rider has been on the route for over a week, almost non-stop, anything can happen.
So we still have 24 riders on the route. The closest to the finish line (250 km) is Belgian Maximilien Couvreur. Maxi got the route wrong in the Bieszczady Mountains and shortened the loop, not visiting Ustrzyki Górne, for which he received a 120-minute penalty. However, the distances between the riders with whom he competes directly are so large that the penalty should not affect the order at the finish line. If nothing changes, the Belgian will win 3 statuettes: for 3rd place open, 3rd in the men's category and 3rd place in the men's under 50 category.
In the M50+ category, Piotr Mos (ITA) has 440 km to the finish line and a 170 km advantage over Andrzej Tercjak (POL). Witold Kania (POL), who was second yesterday, is probably spending the night under a roof in Bartoszyce (tracker has 100% battery)
In the women's competition, Lisa Brömmel (DEU) has 480km to the finish line and a 290km advantage over Maria Łuszczek (POL).
Estimated times of the sharp finish line (Obórki) of the world champions:
World Champion in the men's category over 50: 2025-07-07 01:00
World Champion in the women's category under 50: 2025-07-07 02:00
We invite you to greet the cyclists at the finish line in Obóki or Royal Wilanów (30 minutes later)
