Warsaw, Poland - The World Ultra Cycling Association's (WUCA) 3rd World Ultra Cycling Championships in an unsupported format will start in Warsaw on 28 June 2025.
The World Championship will be held for the third time in a row during Race Around Poland - the longest and most difficult ultra cycling race in Poland, during which riders have to face, among other things, a route of more than 3,600 kilometres and more than 31,000 metres of elevation gain through the most beautiful corners of the country, which they have to complete within a time limit of 12 days. This prestigious event will once again bring together the best ultra-cyclists in the world, who will compete for the statuette and the World Champion's jersey over the crowning distance of 3,600 km in the solo unsupported category, where the rider is on his or her own for the entire route of the race. It is worth recalling that the Ultra-Cycling World Championships during Race Around Poland has been a historic event since its first edition two years ago - never before has a competition of this rank in road cycling been held on Polish territory!
However, Race Around Poland is not only the longest distance, but also distances including ½ RAP (1800 km - finish line in Szklarska Poręba), ¼ RAP (900 km - finish line at the Checkpoint located in the Eco Active Resort Pieniny Hotel in Czorsztyn) and a 'sprint' distance of 300 km with a turn-around in the town of Czemierniki and the finish line in Warsaw, whose competitors are racing for the Cup funded by the Mayor of the town and a cash prize.
The race will start on Saturday 28 June 2025 from Warsaw.
Registration is still a long way off, but already on the start lists you can see some of the world's most titled male and female athletes from more than a dozen countries and several continents, including again, among others, the current Polish Ultracycling 50+ Champion Adrzej Tercjak, or the current World Champion Jakub Tomasik. Traditionally, a group of real veterans and legends of Polish ultracycling, who have successfully competed in all editions of the race, including Robert Woźniak or Jarosław Kędziorek, will also appear at the starting line of the race.
It is worth mentioning that Race Around Poland is not only the World Ultracycling Championships, but also a qualifying race for one of the most prestigious ultracycling events in the world, i.e. Race Across America (RAAM), during which the competitors cross the USA from the west to the east coast covering a total of 4,800 km within a time limit of 12 days. The phenomenal international career of the current WUCA 2024 World Cup winner, Szczecin resident Marek Rupinski, and Krzysztof Fechner began with Race Around Poland and the qualification to the RAAM, which they successfully took part in to later represent our country also in other races on other continents (including India and Japan). The start in RAAM is planned for 2025 by the current Women's 50 -World Champion Aneta Lamik, who had just qualified during last year's Race Around Poland.
"After the success of the first historic World Championships, which took place in 2023, and the success of the 2nd World Championships, which took place last year during Race Around Poland, the international WUCA authorities trusted us again and granted us the right to organise an event of the same rank in the unsupported category. This is the second World Championship in this category, and the third event of championship rank during the RAP. This is a great honour and a rather unprecedented event. We strongly encourage you to follow and participate!" said Remigiusz Siudzinski, Race Director and also the first Pole to complete the RAAM in the solo category.
"We are again hosting the world's top in ultra cycling! It's great that Polish asphalts, mountains and sea attract riders of such a format. Thanks to Race Around Poland, also cyclists from such distant places for us as India or the USA will be able to admire the qualities of the landscape, traditional Polish hospitality or cuisine and at the same time take part in an event of a unique character. As it has turned out during previous editions, our race is also a springboard for ambitious riders from Poland who want to try their hand at other prestigious events around the world. We are very happy about that and look forward to more daredevils!" added Mateusz Przygodzki, Co-organiser.
We invite all cycling and also endurance sports enthusiasts to join us and cheer on the competitors during this unique event. You will be able to follow the current position of the riders on the internet using the dotwatching platform provided by the organiser at: www.racearoundpoland.pl during the race, and via RAP social media,
This is a unique chance to witness an incredible event and a demonstration of endurance, skill and determination on an unprecedented scale.
